Richard H. Shinn, Ph.D.

Richard is founder and CEO of AIBrain. His goal is to build a true AI by unifying cognitive, social and emotional intelligence. Prior to AIBrain, Richard founded CrossCert, Inc., the first digital certification authority service company in South Korea in 1999. In 2010, CrossCert made its Initial Public Offering (IPO) in South Korea’s KOSDAQ market. CrossCert became one of the most trusted public company in South Korea. He is also the founder of South Korea’s first direct insurance company in 2000, which is now AXA Direct Korea.

Richard did his Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence at Georgia Institute of Technology.

John Seo

COO and SVP, Product Management

John is SVP and Chief Operating Office at AIBrain. Prior to AIBrain, John was founder and CEO of Yeonjoo Systems in 1989 and led the development team for X terminal emulation software, Xcute, for PCs, raster to vector image conversion program for engineering drawings and geographical maps, ENDRES, and document imaging system, MetaDesk. Metadesk was the first local software selected by IBM as one of their product line in Korea. He also founded FrissNet in Silicon Valley to develop a computer network switching software. John received a bachelor’s degree in computer science and statistics from Seoul National University, master’s degree in computer engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, and completed a Ph.D. from Seoul National University in computer graphics.

Peter Kim

CMO and VP, Sales & Marketing

Peter is responsible for AIBrian’s overall global marketing and sales teams for mid to long term strategic and annual business plans to ensure company’s revenue goals. Peter is a seasoned executive with extensive experience in developing and managing multi-national companies where he executed the Enterprise and SME client acquisitions globally. Prior to AIBrain, Peter was the Vice President of Strategic Alliances and Business Development at Britelab, Inc., a subsidiary of PH Group. At Britelab/PHG, Peter lead the entire company in planning and strategies for Robotics & Automation engineering and services for fortune 500 companies including Facebook, Thermo-Fisher Scientific, and Cisco Systems. Prior to Britelab/PHG, Peter was the VP of Global Business Development for Sejin Electronics, leading the company initiatives in wireless communications components business unit working with Qualcomm, Verizon, Sprint, and SK Telecom. Peter holds B.S. in Management Information Systems from Drexel University.

Ricky Wong (黄益源)

Country Manager, AIBrain China

Ricky was the co-founder of iMaibo,net, a prominent financial SNS in China based in Guangzhou. iMaibo builds a young investor community targeting China securities market. iMaibo has successfully achieved over 200K daily active users and EBITA break even in 3 years’ time. Ricky was the Asia Pacific Sales Director of VeriSign, a global Internet security company and Greater China General Manager of GE Information Services respectively. Ricky is an IT Entrepreneur who founded Synergy Information Technology in Beijing. Synergy was a SI delivering financial trading solutions in China. During mid 90’s, they had successfully built the core trading systems for China Foreign Exchange Trade Centre, Shanghai Commodities Exchange and several stock & securities brokers. Ricky graduated from University of Waterloo, Canada with a B Math major in Computer Science and a MSc from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Namsoon Jung, Ph.D.

Namsoon Jung, Ph.D.

Namsoon has led multiple teams of software developers and researchers to produce commercially viable solutions based on cutting edge technologies in video analytics, machine learning, and human computer interaction, including several teams in a globally leading IT company. The solutions targeted various vertical markets in intelligent surveillance, retail analytics, out-of-home media, and interactive video gaming. In Samsung SDS, he successfully managed a significant project for developing video analytics solutions on an edge device. He provided top-level technological leadership and was a member of a committee that oversaw Samsung Software Academy for deep learning, digital image processing, and computer vision. He contributed to product and R&D innovations in VideoMining, PA from 2000, where he held positions as President, VideoMining Lab (2012~2014) and VP Innovation and Research (2007~2012). He is a co-inventor of 50 US patents. He holds a Ph.D. and a M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University, and a M.A. in Computer Science from the City University of New York.

Wilfred O. Odoyo, Ph. D.

Director, Global AI Technical Unit

Has worked with AIBrain Inc., since 2012 during which he has mainly led research and development of Tyche, an AI robot which displays a holistic human-like intelligence. Tyche is a CES 2014, Innovation Award Winner in the Category of Technology for a Better World. In this domain he has gained hands-on experience in the implementation of AI technologies including ML and Natural Language Processing. His vision is shaped by the strong background in Computer Vision and AI major subjects. He holds a M.S. and a Ph. D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Chosun University, S. Korea.


Steve Omohundro, Ph.D


Steve is president of both Possibility Research and Self-Aware Systems, a think tank working to ensure that intelligent technologies have a positive impact. He was a computer science professor at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and cofounded the Center for Complex Systems Research. He published the book Geometric Perturbation Theory in Physics, designed the programming languages StarLisp and Sather, wrote the 3D graphics system for Mathematica, and built systems which learn to read lips, control robots, and induce grammars. He’s done internationally recognized work on AI safety and strategies for creating beneficial technologies. He earned degrees in physics and mathematics from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of California, Berkeley.

Raymond Perrault, Ray Ph.D.


As Director of SRI International’s Artificial Intelligence Center, Ray Perrault was co-PI of the DARPA-funded CALO Project, a multi-institutional project to develop an enduring personalized cognitive assistant. Several technologies developed on that project were the seeds for spinoff companies (Siri, SocialKinetics, TrapIt, Desti, Tempo) and for transitions to military applications. He is Fellow of AAAI, has been President of the Association for Computational Linguistics, President of the International Joint Conferences in Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI), Co-Editor-in-Chief of Artificial Intelligence and won IJCAI’s 2011 Donald E Walker Distinguished Service Award.

Soo Young Lee, Ph.D.


Soo Young is currently involved in building an augmented human intelligence with AIBrain, while he serves as the Director, Brain Science Research Center, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. He was Principal Investigator, Korean Brain Science Research Program under BrainTech21, for 10 years from 1998 until 2008, granted US$30 million with 25 professors and 70 graduate students. He is also Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. He received his Ph.D. in Electrophysics from Polytechnic Institute of New York.
